Mobile app design

The Challenge
Building an offline-first software solution handling large volumes of PHI that has to be measured and synced perfectly — in a high-regulation industry, with a hardware device in the loop.
The app runs offline-first and carries a heavy load of PHI, where every reading has to be captured accurately and stay perfectly in sync. On top of that, a hardware device feeds the data and has to be handled reliably — all inside an industry with strict regulations and standards, where there's no margin for a lost or mismeasured reading.
Styles

The Solution
A scalable, offline-first architecture engineered to move sensitive health data between hardware, app, and backend with clinical-grade reliability.
The system was architected around the hardware from the ground up, so the device, the software layer, and the backend operate as one reliable pipeline rather than three parts stitched together. Every layer was designed for scale and for the integrity demands of regulated health data — resilient under real-world conditions, and built to extend as the product and its clinical footprint grow.

The Process
We owned the build end-to-end, as part of the founding team.
The work moved through deep scoping with medical and clinical input, with the architecture designed around the hardware and the regulatory demands from day one and a clear path to scale built in from the start. At every stage we operated as part of the team: making the technical decisions, carrying the complexity, coordinating directly with the hardware side, and taking the product from concept to a working, patented system the founders could stand behind.
