Gamified FinTech educational platform about investing

Economia.AI is a FInTech and EdTech platform that informs and educates users about investing. It uses an onboarding survey to assign users to clusters based on their pre-existing knowledge and investing goals. This process uses an AI model we’ve implemented in-house so that every user gets a personalized experience with lesions and quizzes designed for them. Users also have access to hypothetical portfolios and an investing calculator for further insights. Different badges, points, and other gamification elements make learning easier and more engaging.

Gamification with data insights

The biggest challenge was creating the entire solution together with the client based on market research data. It had to be intuitive and engaging while presenting data gathered by our investment banking consultants. Gamified features mixed with financial insights created a unique FinTech solution that combines innovation and learning.

AI model

Based on previous experience with integrating AI, we knew how to approach it with this project. For the MVP phase, we decided to develop a classification AI model that assigns users to different profiles. Questions related to investing goals, investment horizon, familiarity with instruments, and types of analysis help the AI model sort users. It also takes into consideration assessed experience, activity, and risk tolerance. Based on this data, we created three user profiles: high-risk, low-risk, and blended.

Exceptional UI/UX experience

The platform design was meant to be simple and innovative. It uses visuals to show information clearly. Gamified features like points, badges, and animations make the learning process more fun. The design was optimized for mobile devices, ensuring easy use for users on the go.

Scoping

During this phase, we worked with the client to define the vision, mission, as well as product functionalities, and development timeline. Based on the market research we determined what the MVP should include and the direction in which the product should evolve. This helped us establish a solid foundation and precisely define project objectives.

UX Research

Based on competitor research and the idea of where Economia.AI will position itself in the future, we decided that we should focus on gamification and a simple yet interactive user flow. During this phase, we created user personas that precisely define the future user base and determine who is not our target audience. Additionally, we created a user journey map that presents key touchpoints we need to focus on.

Style Guide

The style guide defines elements like colors or typography based on psychology. Dominant colors are green and blue, with different gradients. We also used orange and purple for gamified elements and user motivation. The style guide is a developer’s version of the Brand book. It serves as a reference for designers and developers, explaining which colors, typography, and spacing should be used.

Design

The design embodies innovation in every aspect while maintaining a minimalistic style. Green and blue colors were used because of their association with money and investing. Elements like illustrations, badges, and levels are core parts of gamification. We made sure that the design also motivates users to earn points and level up. Additionally, we focused on data visualization, because we wanted to accurately represent portfolio analytics.

05Software Architecture and Development

Due to significant interest from investors and potential partners, it was likely that the business model would change from B2C to B2B or B2B2C. Because of this with software architecture and development, we focused on flexibility and scalability.

We began by sketching the platform and its functionalities with low-fidelity wireframes. This helped us validate the idea for each functionality. Usability testing allowed us to look for potential problems.

The ML classification model was built in-house and written in Python, utilizing the support vector machine (SVM). Initially, an algorithm was created to simulate user behavior to generate enough surveys to train the algorithm.

We developed an internal framework for the event bus mechanism. This is a mechanism for customizing events that activate various asynchronous operations. It also has a recovery mechanism because it tracks active transactions in the database and it doesn’t propagate events for which a rollback occurs in the database.

We utilized a RESTful API for external interactions and retrieving data, enabling seamless integration with different third-party services and systems. This API is capable of supporting different functions, from retrieving data to performing processing tasks. This guarantees the platform's flexibility and scalability.

Manitne was integrated into the platform's UI, to improve its visual appeal and usability. These intuitive design elements serve as visual cues, guiding users through the interface and allowing smooth navigation.

Testing and Collecting Users' Feedback

Testing is one of the main parts of our work process from the start. After adding each feature and reaching every milestone, we conduct testing. However, before launch, we perform another round of testing to verify proper functionality. During the beta testing phase, we observe the platform's live performance. This allows us to collect real-time user feedback and address any bugs.
